We are at the halfway stage through our Top 50.
You will notice a growing trend of classic Hip Hop Albums from Ayden and more old school rock from myself.
Supergrove’s Traction is my highest rated Album from Aotearoa, I was surprised how high I actually ranked this. But going through this classic, it was just full of great songs with no bad listening moments throughout, just awesome.
AYDEN’s Top 50
29. Metallica – Metallica
This might not be a popular choice amongst true Metallica fans but this is the album that got me into Metallica in the first place. Even ignoring the overrated Enter Sandman, there are still bangers on here, Sad But True being a personal favourite pic.twitter.com/9FeROphr3k

27. Sublime – Sublime
The soundtrack of many a party, pretty much every song on this album reminds me of good times. Also, a hot take for you…Same in the end > Santeria pic.twitter.com/1nlw3jTIhi

25. Kendrick Lamar – Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City
This is the best rap album to be released in the last 10 years. Kendrick’s unique delivery and lyricism put west coast rap back on the map for me. His later efforts are great, but not as much as this. Nice to hear MC Eiht as well pic.twitter.com/em3ObUW1dG

23. Nas – Illmatic
Some consider this the best all-round rap album ever made and it’s hard to disagree. No singles or anything, just a guy rapping over slick production, talking about life growing up in New York. A classic pic.twitter.com/hDtj9TH1M9

21. Rage Against The Machine – Rage Against The Machine
Admittedly, this album wouldn’t be in my top if I hadn’t seen them live at Big Day Out 2008. I liked a couple of their songs before then but hearing them live gave me a whole new appreciation for the rap/rock fusion pic.twitter.com/p1ZP7RwpEv

CARL’s Top 50
29. AC/DC: Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap
Bon Scott it his best, I love this version of AC/DC. And the title track is probably the worst song on the album, Ride On is one of my favs. Maybe the best Aussie record ever? pic.twitter.com/2NldKZVEkO

27. Red Hot Chili Peppers: Blood Sugar Sex Magik
One of the first CDs I ever bought, a bit scratched up but still plays well to this day! The Chili’s unique sound was maximized on this, 17 songs making up one hell of an album. pic.twitter.com/YuMj4VYOSs

25. Pearl Jam: Ten
My mate’s old man used to crank this in his Holden Commodore all the time in the 90s and it was awesome! From Once to Release, Ten is great all the way through. Oceans being a personal favourite. pic.twitter.com/P39kcFi40c

23. Rodriguez: Cold Fact
I’m proud to say I listened to Rodriguez well before Search for the Sugar Man came out. His brilliant song writing combined with the “realness” of his music makes this record a must own. He still remains a much of a mysterious legend. pic.twitter.com/VwHSb4hA6v

21. The White Stripes: Elephant
Jack & Meg make music sound so good, none of this computerized bullshit you hear a lot of these days. And they still produced big hitters like Seven Nation Army & Hardest Button. pic.twitter.com/4gf0w0ohkZ
