As we delved further and further into our best albums of all time, we really had to go through these albums carefully. Did the album have a bad patch of songs? Did the album influence others? How well do you remember the lyrics?
Ayden’s heavy influence of rap and rock merge in this segment with early Beastie Boys and bands like HED P.E.
And a real mixture of genres comes in through my 31-40, from the reggae of Bob to the West Auckland Metal sound of Blindspott, many different bands and artists contributed to building my musical tastes.
AYDEN’s Top 50
39. Beastie Boys – Licenced To Ill
It took me a while to appreciate the true genius of the Beastie Boys and just what they contributed to rap music. This is a banger pic.twitter.com/wLYKvB3S4U

37. Pearl Jam – Ten
Literally some of the best rock songs of all-time on here. If I was crazy enough to do a top 50 songs list, Even Flow would appear near the top. Not to mention the album name is an ode to Mookie Blaylock, which is just a cool-ass factoid pic.twitter.com/7KQTeiz4PT

35. Nirvana – Nevermind
True story, I never really got into Nirvana in high school until I had a friend pass away from cancer (fuck cancer!) and his funeral song was Smells like Teen Spirit. Cobains words spoke to me on that day and have ever since pic.twitter.com/ALuGLbGxpZ

33. Korn – Follow the Leader
Yeah, nu-metal was definitely my thing in high school. Korn had some fantastic albums (two others barely missed the cut) but this is the best of the lot pic.twitter.com/OkBsYEjPcM

31. Ice Cube – The Predator
Cube is one of my favourite rappers of all-time, top 5 easy. It’s got the classics Check Yo Self and It was a good day but Cube’s underrated storytelling is on full display throughout this whole album. Banger pic.twitter.com/klnmumidJW

CARL’s Top 50
39. AC/DC: Back In Black
Even though Bon Scott is my preferred AC/DC vocalist, Brian Johnson kicks ass on this record, every song on here is a classic. My mate saw them not long after they released Back in Black, he said the only band louder was Motorhead. pic.twitter.com/EJ0junydJF

37. Cypress Hill: Black Sunday
Nothing like smoking a bit of the green and listening to Cypress Hill back in the day. I’m not a teenager anymore but damn this brings back the memories. Cypress Hill were and are the shit! pic.twitter.com/nC4rHAstu1
— Carl (@onpointcarl) June 26, 2019
35. Nirvana: MTV Unplugged in New York
The best acoustic & live album out there (shoutout Peter Frampton). Cobain’s vocals are haunting which makes this album so great. pic.twitter.com/SXSC7Q3VSN

33. The Living End: The Living End
Aussie punk at its best. The old Channel Z radio station got me hooked on this band, Prisoner of Society kicks the album off with a bang and it keeps on delivering. pic.twitter.com/7STsPVDOhS
— Carl (@onpointcarl) June 27, 2019
31. Blindspott: Blindspott
My 2nd favourite Westie band (8 Foot Sativa represent!). You couldn’t ask for a better opening than Mind Dependency followed by Nil by Mouth. Maori hymns/verses also with a bit of rap infused this makes Blinspott’s debut album one of NZs best. pic.twitter.com/NM3naNaVwu
