So with the abundance of Point Guards in the league now guys like Jarrett Jack, Tony Wroten, Beno Udrih, Will Bynum and Toney Douglas are not needed. I mean these guys have played for a long time (apart from Wroten), playing numerous seasons on good teams.
Udrih wasn’t unemployed for long with the Pistons picking him up the very same day he was released by the Heat. A solid move where Detroit bring in a veteran presence to run their second unit, while Ish Smith takes over on Reggie Jackson’s starting role.
Surely Jack will get picked up by a Top 10 team, surely Golden State will jump if Jack wants to sign for the Veteran’s Minimum.
My biggest surprise was the Suns waiving Archie Goodwin, as the cleanout continues there. With Booker and Warren stepping up and Bledsoe and Knight cemented in their positions, Goodwin must have been excess baggage for Phoenix’s backcourt. Personally I would have kept him around as he earned some starts last season on was improving throughout.
Its tough being on the fringe of a NBA roster, just ask any of the guys on the list above.
And let the Season begin!
